We love Modern Animal. Vets and vet techs have all been warm and caring to our dog and to us. The chat feature is SO helpful to get quick advice when we’ve had questions or concerns. Scheduling is easy. The environment is calm. Highly recommended for great pet care.

The Modern Animal team is amazing! I visited the NOPA location and had nothing but a positive experience. Staff was efficient and caring, and treated my cat with a lot of patience. I especially love the various opportunities for appointment discounts, which is extremely helpful. We will definitely be coming back for future appointments.

We saw Dr. Frankenberger for my cat who was having an eye issue. He was incredibly kind and explained everything in detail. It was wonderful that we could get an appointment the next day and get my cat the treatment that she needed. All prices were clearly transparent, which was a wonderful experience as well. The vet techs were also all professional.

We decided to start using Modern Animal after they opened the NoPa location because we live in the neighborhood. We also really liked the ease of using the app for chats and appointments. It’s nice that you can see all of your pets records as well. The office staff has always been caring and friendly. Recently, it was time to say goodbye to our beloved dog. Everyone was kind, reassuring and professional. Dr. Frankenberger and the staff were very compassionate during a difficult visit. When it’s time for another pet, I won’t hesitate to join again. Thank you.

Such a great experience today with MA! They were super friendly and made the whole experience awesome. My doggo would like to thank them for babying him, and for the thorough checkup that made him feel all better. Since he's a puppy and can't type, I'm doing it for him. Thank you Modern Animal!!!

We received truly kind, thorough, and compassionate care for our kitty during a very stressful time. From the moment we arrived, the entire team was welcoming, patient, and incredibly attentive, not just to our pet, but to us as worried pet owners as well. Every step of the visit was explained clearly, and we never felt rushed or overlooked. It was obvious that our cat was treated with genuine gentleness and respect, and the staff took the time to make sure she was as comfortable as possible. We can’t thank the team enough.

Great vet. We've been coming since they opened here in the city and it's been great for us. The membership model made a ton of sense for us since our pup was coming into the vet 2-3 times a year for her annual check ups + conditions that would pop up throughout the year. This way we never second guess whether we should "ask the vet" between virtual care or in person care because there won't be a visit fee. We have always been able to find parking in the lot, but it does get busy some days to the point where we end up taking the last spot. The Russian Hill location is your safest bet since they have dedicated garage parking. Scheduling an appointments is incredibly easy whether you need a vet or just need a quick technician appointment. I love that the app makes that easy to differentiate. Modern Animal is a great "primary care" provider who is also able to point us in the right direction for specialists when we needed to go that route. I hope they stick around, especially since they recently got bought by Chewy, and that they are able to maintain their standard of care over time.

Felt like I was in a commercial it went so smoothly. We got a room before my partner could even find parking. Dr. Sanford was professional, kind, and insightful. She even came back after our visit to offer a tip she thought of after the fact. The nursing staff were also incredible. Our cat has been expressed at two other clinics, and both times they were extremely distressed--screaming and scratching the staff. However, at MA, the nurse was extremely gentle, and he didn't even meow once. One of them restrained him with a towel very gently but tightly, and the other did the procedure cautiously. Btw, if you come here to have your cat expressed, you can stay in the room and rub their cheeks or otherwise try to calm them down while it's happening, and I think that was really helpful to our cat, so I would recommend it. In addition, the pricing is unbelievable compared to SPCA and AMC. It was only $47 + the initial visit fee, which is normally $100, but they applied a half-off discount. I didn't even know about the discount when I booked it, but they let us know about it and gave it to us anyway, which I thought was really nice too. The atmosphere inside is like an upscale cafe--it's really unexpectedly cozy. I honestly can't imagine a smoother experience at a vet.

Modern Animal has been such a wonderful veterinary experience. Their app makes everything incredibly easy — I love the chat feature because I can quickly ask questions and get helpful answers without always needing to schedule a visit. Booking appointments through the app is simple and convenient, and overall the care has been very reasonably priced compared to many vet clinics. What really meant the most to me was the kindness they showed when my cat passed away. They sent flowers and a handwritten card, which was such a thoughtful gesture during a really difficult time. It truly showed how much they care about both pets and their owners. I’m very grateful for the compassion and support from the Modern Animal team and highly recommend them.
